1. Kanchenjunga – (28169 ft, 8586 m)
Kanchenjunga is the India’s highest peak and world 2nd
highest peak. It is 8,586 metre tall. The
literal meaning of Kanchenjunga means “The Five Treasures of Snows” and these
treasures are silver, gems, grain, gold, and holy books. .
Kanchenjunga is a group of five peaks out of which four are over 8450 ft.
2. Nanda Devi (25663 ft, 7824 m)
Nanda devi is the second highest mountain peak in India. This is
the highest peak in the country, as Kanchenjunga lies on the border areas of
India and Nepal. It was the highest known mountain in the world until 1808 when
western surveyors discovered Dhaulagiri. The mountain stands tall at an
elevation of 7824 meters (25663 ft). The Nanda devi peak is the part of Garhwal
Himalayas and lies in the state of Uttrakhand.
3. Kamet (25446 ft, 7756 m)
Kamet is the second 3rd highest mountain peak in Indian
Himalayas. It lies in the Uttrakhand state of India. The Kamet mountain peak is
the 29th highest in the world. Kamet is most properly considered part of (and
the highest summit in) the Zaskar (or Zanskar) Range, which lies north of the
main chain of the Himalaya, between the Suru River and the upper Karnali River.
